 A 71-year-old woman was fatally shot after walking into a Florida police station waving a pistol around, ignoring the officer's demands.  Residents in Port Orange, Florida, could not believe the dramatic events that played out at their local police station on Thursday morning. They were not only shocked at the tragic ending but also the identity of the individual who set the drama into motion.  Officers could not believe their eyes when 71-year-old Linda Croteau walked through the front entrance of the Port Orange Police Department and pulled a pistol from her pocket.  Soon, the situation would spiral, and the sound of gunfire would confirm the reality and gravity of the situation unfolding on September 3rd.  After pulling the pistol, Linda began to wave it around wildly before firing one round off in the direction of the evidence department, where officers were reportedly present.  Realizing the very real danger the weapon presented, an officer began tell...

 TROOPS OF OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA NEUTRALISE TERRORIST, RECOVER FOUR MOTORCYCLES IN KATSINA


Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, neutralised a terrorist and recovered four motorcycles and other items during a dawn offensive operation in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State on 4 September 2026.


Acting on credible intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the general area of Yantumaki Forest, troops conducted a coordinated offensive against the terrorists. Troops engaged the terrorists with maximum firepower, forcing them to flee into the surrounding bushes.


During exploitation of the area, troops confirmed the neutralisation of one terrorist and recovered four motorcycles, one mobile phone and five empty intravenous drip containers, suspected to have been used in the treatment of wounded terrorists.


The successful operation further demonstrates the unwavering commitment of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to sustain pressure on terrorist networks, degrade their operational capabilities and deny them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area. OPFY urges the general to continue to support security agencies with relevant information to enable the theatre to eradicate terrorists elements within the Joint Operations Area.
