 EFCC Arraigns One for  N700m Fraud in Lagos  The Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, September 4, 2026, arraigned Osaretin Osagiede before Justice Olukayode Ogunjobi of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja,  over an alleged N700 million fraud. Osagiede is standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on unauthorised access to computer material and receiving stolen property to the tune of N700 million.  Count one reads: “That you Osaretin Osagiede and Zacharia Lorshe (at large), between March, 2025 and January 2026, in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, intentionally caused the Ravenpay user accounts' two-factor authentication (2FA) method to be bypassed, with the intent to secure unauthorised access to the bank's data and committed an offence contrary to Section 387 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.  SOKOTO POLICE ELIMINATES TWO SUSPECTED BANDITS, FOILS ATTACKS IN ILLELA LGA The Sokoto State Police Command says  its operatives have eliminated two suspected bandits in a gun duel after they foiled an attack on Dankadu Village in Illela Local Government Area.  A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, says the bandits were advancing from Tsauana Forest towards the community when operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Volunteer Constabulary and Rescue Unit, alongside other tactical teams, engaged them in a gun duel. The statement notes that the bandits fled into the forest with gunshot wounds, while a subsequent clearance operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, two magazines and 54 rounds of live ammunition.  Congo Ebola outbreak can be brought under control within three months- WHO Hope remains that it will be possible to bring under control an Ebola outbreak that is currently outpacing containment efforts and is now the second most lethal on record, a World Health Organization official said on Tuesday. The global health agency said earlier this month that reversing Ebola's spread would be possible within a three-month period, but since then there have been signs that it has worsened, expanding to a sixth province. "About the next plan for the three months, yes, if you have the necessary resources, I think it will be possible to do that," Thierno Balde, WHO incident manager, told reporters in Geneva by video link from Bunia, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Reuters reported.
