 Abducted editor resigns after newspaper apologises to Gbajabiamila Abducted editor, Segun Olatunji, has resigned from his position at FirstNews following an apology made by the management of the media house to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila. Olatunji, who spent two weeks in detention after he was abducted by military men from his Lagos home on March 15, 2024, said he had chosen to resign as the General Editor of FirstNews for his safety and that of his family. It was learnt that the management of the newspaper apologised to Gbajabiamila over a recent news story published on its platform. ENFORCEMENT ON SMOKING IN PUBLIC,KICKS OFF IN AUGUST.

           According to sources,the Environmental Protection Agency {LASEPA}said with the effect from 17 August  2014,anybody caught smoking in public places in Lagos state will be arrested and prosecuted.LASEPA will hold a stakeholder's meeting tomorrow May 13 to sensitise people in compliance with the law which banned smoking in all public places in the state.The General manager of LASEPA,Engr Rasheed Shabi said ''When the smoking bill was signed into law by Governor Babatunde Fashola on 17th February 2014,six months grace was given to enable proper sensitization to be carried out before enforcement.With the passage of the law,smokers have been banned from smoking in places such as hospital,eateries,hotels,schools,creche,restaurants,bars,school buses,event centres and book shops.We have engaged hoteliers and told them to creat a place where smokers can smoke,but they can't smoke in public places.
