TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms. According to the Catholic church officials,they said Rebels fighters and armed Muslim civilians killed many people in an attavk on a church compound in Central African Republic on monday where thousands of civilians had taken refuge.The attack came just a day before French Defence Minister Jean Yves Le Drain was due to visit the town,where a grenade attack injured Seven French soldiers last week.Church official said fighters from the Seleka rebels movement and armed muslism civilians from the town community entered St Joseph's cathedral aroud 3pm.Rev Jesus Martial Dembele,Vicar general for the archdiocese of Bangui said ''We don't have the exact death toll yet but many people have been killed.Ad i'm speaking to you,they are still there''.
