  President Bola Tinubu has identified the creative economy as a pivotal element of his administration’s economic diversification agenda, reaffirming his commitment to positioning Nigeria’s creative sector as a driving force for global influence. The President stated this at the launch of the 2024 Abuja International Carnival at Eagle Square, Abuja. President Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, said the carnival reaffirms the essence of who Nigerians are—”a people of culture, a people of art, a people of colour, and a people of shared values”. MADAGASCAR EXILED PRESIDENT MARC,ARRESTED AS HE RETURNED TO MADAGASCAR TODAY.

REUTERS/Siphiwe Sibeko            Today monday,Madagascar's exiled former leader Marc Ravalomanana was detained today after returning to the Indian Ocean Island for the first time since he was deposed in a coup in 2009.Ravalomanana,exiled to South Africa,had tried returning to Madagascar several times since 2009 but was prevented by the authorities who feared his homecoming would bring further instability to the Island,which has a long history of coups.President Henry Rajaonari Mampianina,who took office in January after an election last December,said ''It's for his safety that he was arrested,besides it's not an arrest but rather placement in a supervised area to ensure his safety''.Marc Ravalomanana said ''I'm not coming to bring trouble but to bring peace and work for Madagasca's development''.
