  Oshiomhole Convinced Us To Make Obaseki Governor – Philip Shaibu Philip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, has disclosed that his choice to support his former boss, Godwin Obaseki, stemmed from his respect for Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Naija News, Shaibu shared his doubts about Obaseki during an interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm program on Tuesday. Shaibu admitted that he lacked confidence in Obaseki's leadership even before they took office on November 12, 2016. He explained that despite his initial hesitations, he ultimately backed Obaseki out of respect and based on the assurances provided by Oshiomhole. He stated, “Obaseki is not a politician. We made him governor because Oshiomhole persuaded us. REUTERS/Siphiwe Sibeko            Today monday,Madagascar's exiled former leader Marc Ravalomanana was detained today after returning to the Indian Ocean Island for the first time since he was deposed in a coup in 2009.Ravalomanana,exiled to South Africa,had tried returning to Madagascar several times since 2009 but was prevented by the authorities who feared his homecoming would bring further instability to the Island,which has a long history of coups.President Henry Rajaonari Mampianina,who took office in January after an election last December,said ''It's for his safety that he was arrested,besides it's not an arrest but rather placement in a supervised area to ensure his safety''.Marc Ravalomanana said ''I'm not coming to bring trouble but to bring peace and work for Madagasca's development''.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
