  President Bola Tinubu has identified the creative economy as a pivotal element of his administration’s economic diversification agenda, reaffirming his commitment to positioning Nigeria’s creative sector as a driving force for global influence. The President stated this at the launch of the 2024 Abuja International Carnival at Eagle Square, Abuja. President Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, said the carnival reaffirms the essence of who Nigerians are—”a people of culture, a people of art, a people of colour, and a people of shared values”. GILLES CISTAC,MOZAMBIQUE INFLUENTIAL LAWYER,WAS ASSASSINATED TODAY IN A TAXI.

               According to Mozambique police spokesman Orlando Modumane,he said ''54 year old Gilles Cistac,who is a French by origin,had been in a taxi on his way to work when a car carrying four men pulled up alongside the cab and one of them shot him several times.The assassination took place today tuesday.Cistac had been a central figure in a debate about the creation of autonomous states in Mozambique,a country that has attracted billions of dollars in foreign investments in recent years after making huge coal and natural gas finds.Mozambique's main opposition party Renamo has called for its politicians to govern regions where it won more votes than the ruling Frelimo party in elections last year.Last month,Cistac told reporters that the creation of autonomous regions would be allowed under the constitution,a controversial stand point given that Renamo party has also proposed that Mozambique should be divided into two countries.For rebel group Renamo said Cistac had been killed because of his views on decentralization.Renamo spokesman Antonio Muchanga said ''He was killed for having expressed his opinions regarding the most contentious political issues in the country''.Presidential spokesman Antonio Gaspar said ''We condemn the attack and demand that the perpetrators are caught and brought to justice''.
