 Kaura Youth Set To Tackle Farmer-Herder Conflict  On Saturday, May 4th, 2024, the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Kaura Local Government Area (LGA) chapter, convened a congress meeting to engage with local youth on issues pertinent to the community. The congress, uniting key youth stakeholders and pressure groups, welcomed attendees such as Mrs. Zipporah Z. Cronoh, the Youth Officer of Kaura LGA, alongside Comr. Istifanus Yakubu, Comr. Jubal Dabo, Comr. Victor Galadima, Comrade Emmanuel N. Wada, DSS officers from Kaura, Fulani leaders, and various chiefdom youth leaders. In her opening remarks, Comr. Patience Stephen Gandu, the coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Kaura LGA chapter, expressed gratitude to the youth for their support.  She commended their efforts in maintaining peace within the local government, emphasizing the crucial link between peace and development. THE 18 SUSPECTS OF THE FAILED COUP IN BURUNDI CRIES OUT,AFTER THEY WERE CHARGED TO COURT YESTERDAY.

                         The Burundi Government,took the 18 suspects who were involved in the failed coup against President Pierre Nkurunziza to the High Court yesterday Saturday.The fate of General Godefroid Niyombare,who had announced the take over of President Pierre Nkurunziza on wednesday,was still not clear,yesterday saturday.Family members of two of the 18 men taken to court told pressmen that the suspects had raw wounds on their bodies and one of them had lost hearing in one of his ears due to a beating in the cells.One of the men identified as Juvenal Niyunheko,a senior officer,was escorted into the court without shoes and restrained by handcuffs.It was not immediately clear what charges they were facing.Christella Harerimana,a lawyer representing three of the suspects,said one of her clients had been walking barefoot since he was arrested and that he had been held in a house rather than a police cell,contrary to legal requirements.''They have violated their human rights''.President Pierre Nkurunziza spokesman declined to comment on the claims of abuse when contacted by pressmen.Residents of Bujumbura said they were planning to come out in in large numbers tomorrow monday to protest against Nkurunziza's decision to seek a third term.More photos below.
