 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. TRIBUNAL STRUCK OUT JIMI AGBAJE'S PETITION,AND CONFIRMS AMBODE APPOINTMENT AS GOVERNOR TODAY.

                The Tribunal had today wednesday struck out the Petition filed against the election of Mr Akinwunmi Ambode of the APC by the PDP candidate,Mr Jimi Agbaje,following a preliminary objection filed by the counsel to the APC candidate,Chief Wole Olanipekun {SAN}.In reaction  to the ruling of the state election petition Tribunal headed by Justice Mohammed Sirajo,the Governor of Lagos State Ambode said that ''I am elated at the ruling of the tribunal which is an affirmation of my victory at the polls.On April 11,2015,the people of Lagos spoke with their votes about continuity and that is what the tribunal has just reaffirmed.The task ahead requires concerted efforts from everyone.I urge all my opponents to put the election struggles behind them and in the spirit of sportsmanship join hands with me to take Lagos to the next level''.The statement signed by his Chief press secretary,Habib Aruna further said that ''It has needless in the first place for the PDP to have petitioned my election which was adjudged to be free,fair and credible.Now that the right thing has been done which of course the people expected,we should all come together above partisanship and move the state forward''.
