  President Bola Tinubu has identified the creative economy as a pivotal element of his administration’s economic diversification agenda, reaffirming his commitment to positioning Nigeria’s creative sector as a driving force for global influence. The President stated this at the launch of the 2024 Abuja International Carnival at Eagle Square, Abuja. President Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, said the carnival reaffirms the essence of who Nigerians are—”a people of culture, a people of art, a people of colour, and a people of shared values”. 23 STUDENTS ARRESTED TODAY IN SOUTH AFRICA,OVER PROTEST OF HIKE IN UNIVERSITY SCHOOL FEES.

                          Today tuesday,South African students burned tires and erected barricades at their Cape Town campus,leading to 23 arrests today as the protest hit universities across the country over plans to hike tuition fees.Students barricaded the entrances at University of Cape Town {UCT} and refused to leave,while their peers at Johannesburg's University of the Witwatersrand {Wits},where protests dubbed #FeesMustFall on Twitter began on October 13,2015 overturned vehicles driving into the campus.At least five campuses were engulfed in demonstrations after universities proposed hiking fees by up to 11.5 percent next year.Students say the move will further disadvantage black learners in South Africa who had little access to universities during decades of white apartheid rule.A meeting between university dons and the higher education Minister Blade Nzimande resolved to cap fee increases at 6 percent for 2016 in lie with inflation at 4.6 percent,but some student leaders rejected the offer and the rallies raged on.Vuyani Pambo,Wits Economic Freedom Fighter chairperson said ''They know very well that we can't afford 6 percent.We want free quality education''.Nzimande has said that the government could not afford to provide free education for poor students.More photos below.
