 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.                 The brotherly group Psquare,made of Peter and Paul Okoye is countering the rumours going about how some people stormed their home in Omole Phase 1 Ikeja .So Paul Okoye took to his social media to write ''Pls ignore the rumours that is spraying that our house is on fire lol.People sha God forbid...there was a situation in our neighbourhood early hours of this morning....and our attention was needed....And my people called me as early as 5am...So i had to drive from Island to the mainland to intervene..I was the only person around...Those of you spraying what ever i don't blame you all....God will never allow that to happen..In Jesus name...sorry i have to use social media lol ,...Respect''.The rumours going that ''Residents of Omole Estate woke up friday morning to the invasion of Square Villa,home of Psquare,by policemen,purportedly carrying out a court order to reclaim about N8million said to have been paid to Psquare for a show they eventually turned down.A leader of the delegation who spoke exclusively to NET said they were carrying out an order passed by the Ikeja High Court,Lagos.Psquare were paid over N8million Naira for a show and they didn't show up for the show.Our job here is to enforce the court injunction and retrieve the cash.Right now they say they are trying to transfer the money and that's why we are waiting''.Hmmm.More photos below.
