 Danjuma’s call for self-defense may lead to anarchy – Gov Namadi …Says State Police Still in the Works Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has disagreed with the recent remarks made by former Chief of Army Staff, General Theophilus Danjuma, urging Nigerians to defend themselves in the face of growing insecurity. Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday, Governor Namadi warned that such a call could lead to chaos. “He (Danjuma) is a very senior security person, and should be respected. But if he says that citizens should be allowed to defend themselves, I think you are causing anarchy,” Namadi said. “His words need to be analysed carefully.” The governor emphasized that the government is actively working to improve the country’s security architecture. KAI BOSS,CONDEMNED THE ATTACK ON HIS MEMBERS BY HOODLUMS AT ILE-EPO MARKET,YESTERDAY.

                                 The KAI Marshal General,Mr Jimoh Amusat has condemned the attack on members of the Kick Against Indiscipline,the law enforcement unit of the Lagos State Ministry of Environment,who were attacked and wounded yesterday friday while clamping down on illegal traders at Ile-Epo market,in Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area of the state.The Marshall maintained that such attacks by these hoodlums,posing as illegal traders,will not deter the Agency from carrying out its statutory responsibilities,reaffirming that the state government would not relent in its efforts to step up enforcement to combat non-compliance with the State Environmental Law.Jimoh stated that the Operation/Enforcement was embarked upon following the expiration of the seven days ultimatum issued to illegal traders during a monitoring tour of the market by the Commissioner for the Environment,Dr Babatunde Adejare to vacate the places.He explained that their illegal activities had turned the road side and the parking spaces in the area into unauthorized market places despite series of advocacy/enlightenment programme on the danger it posed to the free flow of vehicles along that axis.''During the operation,which lasted for almost two hours,the illegal traders re-grouped and reinforced to attack KAI operatives,demanding that their members that were arrested with wares must be released to them unconditionally.One of the KAI operative,who was seriously wounded during the attack,had been taken to Orile Agege General Hospital for medical attention,while others that sustained minor injuries were brought to the KAI medical bay for treatment''.He noted also that some of the operational vehicles of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and KAI Brigade were damaged to an extent that the entire workforce on the enforcement trip had to retreat for safety following the hijacking of the whole exercise by the hoodlums.Those that were arrested have been handed over to the Task Force officials as their Head office at Alausa,Ikeja for prosecution.The enforcement team was led by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment Hon.Babatunde Hunpe and other KAI Brigade officials including the Deputy KAI Marshal.More photos below.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
