 A Tennessee woman had to have her leg amputated after being attacked by her own dog. This terrifying incident occurred in the Murfreesboro, Tennessee home of 42-year-old Amanda Mears.  On the evening of December 10th, Amanda was preparing to take her dog, a Pit Bull/ American Staffordshire mix, named "Dennis" out for a walk.  As the two were making their way to the door, Amanda's other dog Ralphie, an American Bully, escaped from the room she was keeping him in.  In the blink of an eye, a vicious dog fight erupted. Amanda, who fosters dogs that have been abandoned, is no stranger to dog fights and jumped between the battling dogs in an attempt to stop the fight.  However, this turned out to not be your typical situation. INDIA ''IRON LADY'' BROKE HER 16 YEARS FAST TODAY,BUT VOWED TO RUN FOR A POLITICAL POST.{PHOTOS}.

                     According to The Telegragh,the world's longest hunger strike came to an end today tuesday,as an activist dubbed as India's ''Iron Lady'',broke her 16 year fast but vowed to continue fighting alleged army brutalities by running for political office.Irom Sharmila had not taken food or drink by mouth since November 2000,instead fed through a plastic tube in her nose.She became the figurehead of protests against a controversial law that gives Indian soldiers sweeping powers to shoot-on-sight in ''troubled '' parts of the country,such as her native northeastern state of Manipur.Critics of the law say it is used to cover up massive human rights abuses in Msnipur,which has suffered a decades-long armed insurgency fighting for independence from India.But Ms Sharmila decided to end her record-breaking defiance on tuesday,admiting it would not succeed in forcing India's government to revoke the Armed Forces {Special Powers} Act.
Speaking at a courtroom in Imphal,Manipur's capital,where she was appearing to face charges of attempting suicide,Ms Sharmila said ''I have been fasting for 16 years and not got anything from it.I want to try different agitation now-one that will see me contest against the chief minister of the state''.Ms Sharmila was granted bail on Tuesday after promising to end her fast.She later ate voluntarily for the first time in over 800 weeks,telling reporters ''I want to join politics because I've been called the Iron Lady of Manipur and i want to live up to that name''.More photos below.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
