  PRESS STATEMENT  NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE DEBUNKS FALSE REPORT ON EXTENSION OF COMPTROLLER-GENERAL A'S TENURE 1. The attention of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has been drawn to a fake release allegedly from the State House regarding an extension of the tenure of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR. The NCS wishes to categorically state that this information is inaccurate and misleading. 2. ⁠For the avoidance of doubt, appointments and tenure extensions for the position of Comptroller-General of Customs are made solely at the discretion of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, in line with the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023 and other relevant regulations governing public service appointments. SUPREME COURT IN INDIAN TO RULE ON END OF 'TRIPLE TALAQ' INSTANT DIVORCE.

Image result for india supreme court              Five of India's most senior judges have started a hearing which could end up being a watershed in the way Muslim men relate to their wives.Muslim men in India are allowed to divorce through ''triple talaq''-a custom that involves saying the word talaq three times in succession.The divorce is instant and unilateral.It can be done by text ,fax,email,Facebook or Whatsapp.The provocation can be trivial,such as putting on weight,greying or burning the dinner.Last month,the husband of national level netball champion,Shumayala Javed,divorced her by uttering talaq because she gave birth to a baby girl.The All India Muslim Personal Law Board,opposes the abolition of the instant divorce.In its petition to the Supreme Court,the Board argues that if Muslim men are denied triple talaq,they might murder their wives to get rid of them.Implying that triple talaq was good for women,the Board said that if a man had to face the hassle of time-consuming and expensive legal proceedigss to divorce hiss wife,''he may resort to illegal,criminal ways of murdering or burning her alive''.Though some Muslim religious figures have come out in support of a ban,saying triple talaq is an aberration and it is time for the Muslim community itself to start reform by issuing divorce guidelines that protect women's rights.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
