 ANAMBRA POLICE ACTION ON THE CULT CLASH THAT RESULTED IN THE FATAL INJURY OF FOUR PERSONS AT AFOR NAWFIA MARKET The Anambra State Police Command wishes to provide a comprehensive update on the cult-related attack that occurred on the evening of 7th December 2025 at Afor Nawfia Market, along the Onitsha–Awka Old Road. It will be recalled that operatives of the Command attached to the Special Anti-Cult Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, had, four days earlier, acting on credible intelligence about a planned rival cult confrontation, arrested two dangerous suspects and recovered a firearm from them. The arrested suspects have been assisting the Police with valuable information aimed at preventing further cult-related violence within Awka and its environs. PRESS RELEASE:I.G SEEKS SUPPORT OF GOVERNORS’ FORUM FOR POLICE MEDIA OUTFIT.{PHOTOS}.

Image may contain: 3 people, people smiling, people standing            The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris NPM, mni, on Thursday sought the support of the Nigeria’s Governors’ Forum for the funding of the Nigeria Police Broadcasting Services (NPBS).
2. Idris who made the call at a meeting with the forum in Abuja on Thursday said the station would assist in addressing many current security challenges across the country.
3. “I passionately wish to seek Your Excellences assistance for the funding of the Nigeria Police Broadcasting Services (NPBS) which is a project being created to deliver Public Service Broadcast function that will assist in addressing many of the current security challenges across the country, “he said”.
4. He explained that the station will bridge the gap between the Nigeria Police and members of the public. “When commissioned, it will broadcast Nationwide on TV, Radio, online and the National Emergency Communication Command Control Centre (NEC4) with its Headquarters in Abuja and locations in each of the thirty six (36) States and the FCT to give effective National coverage.
5. It will enable the Police to tell its story and set the record straight by telling positive stories and correcting distorted information, “he said”.
6. Idris said that the station would also be used to build community relations and enhance positive relations with members of the public. He noted that the regular budgetary allocation to the Police cannot fund Police operations without alternative source of funding. He assured that the police under him would guaranty the protection of lives and property in the country
7. Responding, the Chairman, Nigeria Governor's Forum, Alhaji Abdulhazeez Yari, Governor of Zamfara State commended the police boss for dousing security challenges in the country. He assured the IGP of their support to ensure the success and smooth takeoff of the broadcasting services, saying issue of security should be seen as every body's business.
8. The Governors Forum set up a committee, to be chaired by the Governor of Kwara state and other Governors to serve in the committee are: Bauchi, Imo, Delta, Sokoto, as well as members of technical committee from the proposed Police Broadcasting Services.
9. Some of the Governors who spoke commended the IGP for his effort in dousing tension in the country, despite limited resources.
