 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.         The Ekiti State Governor says his fulfilment of his electioneering promises is responsible for the rousing welcome accorded him at Ijero Ekiti.
He made this known during an interview after the inauguration of the One point One kilometers Ijero dualized township roads with street lights.
He noted that his passion for development of the rural areas across the state made him embarked on the project despite economic recession in the country. He appealed to them to protect and maintain the infrastructure.
Chief Fayose urged Ijero Ekiti people to support Prof Kolapo Olushola to succeed him in order to continue the good works.
The Governor also commissioned an auditorium at the College of Health Technology, Ijero Ekitias part of activities marking his 3rd anniversary in office.
Lamenting that paucity of fund had left the institution under-funded, Mr. Fayose commended the provost, Mr. Bayo Ojo for making judicious use of available resources.
The governor who expressed sadness at not being able to fulfil his earlier promise of tarring some roads in the school vowed to write his name in gold before he times out of office in 2018.
"I am not happy I couldn't fulfil my promise to tar the roads in this school, I am not happy at all, but as the Lord liveth, come what may, I will do that before the end of my tenure in 2018", Fayose said.The governor advised students to steer clear of vices such as prostitution, cultism and drug abuse saying these acts are highway to destruction.More photos below.
