 Police Fire Teargas At Protesters In Port Harcourt Tension erupted in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Monday as officers of the Rivers State Police Command fired teargas at protesters gathered at the Isaac Boro Park. The protesters, members of the 'Take It Back Movement', defied police warnings, insisting on their right to assemble. The demonstrators, who arrived at the venue as early as 9 am, were met with heavy police presence. "Nobody can tell us where not to gather, we are Rivers people," they shouted, standing firm despite police warnings. The standoff escalated, with officers deploying teargas to disperse the crowd, chasing protesters, and beating up some, including journalists. The protest aimed to express grievances against the government, including the repeal of the Cybercrime Act and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.         Barely some months after the invasion and killing of 18 worshipers at St. Philip Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Anambra State, panic has been created in the small and quiet community yet again.
According to reports, yesterday, officers at the Divisional Police Post at Ozubulu woke up to see charms and fetish items dropped in the front of the premises of the Ozubulu Police Post.
The charms were allegedly dropped there by unknown persons and the reason for that is yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
It should be recalled that unknown gunmen had on Sunday, August 6th 2017 invaded the church, killing scores and injuring many in the course of the attack.More photos below.
