 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. OGUN PARTNERS DFID TOWARDS REPOSITIONING CIVIL SERVICE.{PHOTOS}.

     Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has said his government would collaborate with development partners, the Department for International Development (DFID), towards strengthening and repositioning the Civil Service in the state.Receiving a team of the DFID in his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta office, yesterday, Amosun highlighted the importance of the Civil Service to governance and development. 
"We want to review the way we work in the service and embrace world best practices, so as to bring back the glory of the Western region", he stated.The governor reiterated his government's commitment to create a system-driven environment in all the sectors of the economy, where institutions, rather than individuals are developed.Earlier in his remarks, Head of the Department for International Development Regional office, Mr. Robert Watt, thanked the governor for setting up a committee to work with the team towards the success of the reformation plans and strategies in the state.Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Abayomi Sobande and the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Ms. Adenrele Adesina said the state is strengthening the Civil Service to be self sustaining, especially in the areas of training and capacity building, so that the civil servants in the state can compete favourably with their counterparts worldwide. @ Abeokuta.More photos below.
