 The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), yesterday, sealed off some buildings/properties across the state over different environmental infractions. They are; * A property on 34, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island for deliberate discharge of raw sewage into the public drain causing offensive odour and sewage flowing in the community, constituting public nuisance, environmental pollution and endangering human life. * A block of Shops along Powerline Road, Meiran, Alimosho, for the illegal construction and operation of unsanitary toilet facility on a road setback without a permit, constituting public nuisance, environmental pollution and endangering human life. * A three-storey building at 38, Adeniji Adele Street, Lagos Island for deliberate discharge of raw sewage into the public drain. * A building at H29, House of Jesus Street, Langbasa, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, for the deliberate discharge of raw sewage into the public drains. PSP OPERATORS EMBARKED ON A FREE & VOLUNTARY WASTE EVACUATION IN LAGOS TODAY.{PHOTO}


      As part of their resolve to work with the Lagos State Government and Visionscape Sanitation Solutions in addressing the current waste situation in the State, the Waste Collection Operators (WCOs), popularly known as PSP Operators, have embarked on voluntary waste evacuation across the Lagos metropolis.
Speaking with journalists during the flag-off of the exercise in Agege, the Commissioner for the Environment, Mr. Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti stated that the free evacuation of waste across the State was the outcome of resolution between the government and the Waste Collection Operators, adding that the move was meant to ensure that challenges being experienced presently in Waste Management across the State were addressed considerably within the shortest possible time.Durosinmi-Etti said that Lagos State Government remains committed to the removal of all problems militating against efficient waste management in the State.He stated that the free waste evacuation exercise took place simultaneously at the three senatorial districts of the State.“For Lagos West, we are taking off here in Agege while the exercise takes off at Tapa Transfer Loading Stations and Alhaji Masha, Surulere for Lagos East and Central respectively”, he said.Speaking on behalf of the WCOs, Hafis Kasumu said that they had great stakes in ensuring a cleaner, healthier and safer Lagos which was the primary motive of the Lagos State Government for envisioning the Cleaner Lagos Initiative as a holistic solution to Waste Management challenges in the State.“As Lagosians, we have the responsibility to ensure that the new Waste Management system put in place by the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode led administration is successfully implemented for the benefit of all. This is why we support his vision and resolve to voluntarily carry out free mopping of black spots every Thursday”, he said.
