 Nigeria Posts $6.83 Billion Balance of Payments Surplus in 2024, Signaling Economic Resurgence and validating Renewed Hope Agenda  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced a Balance of Payments (BOP) surplus of $6.83 billion for the 2024 financial year, marking a decisive turnaround from deficits of $3.34 billion in 2023 and $3.32 billion in 2022. This improvement reflects the impact of wide-ranging macroeconomic reforms, stronger trade performance, and renewed investor confidence in Nigeria’s economy. Stronger Trade and External Account Performance The current and capital account recorded a surplus of $17.22 billion in 2024, underpinned by a goods trade surplus of $13.17 billion. Petroleum imports declined by 23.2% to $14.06 billion, while non-oil imports fell by 12.6% to $25.74 billion. On the export side, gas exports rose by 48.3% to $8.66 billion, and non-oil exports increased by 24.6% to $7.46 billion. Remittance inflows remained resilient, with personal remittanc...

SOUTH WEST STATES TO UNDERSTUDY EKITI STATE SUCCESS IN EDUCATION.{PHOTOS}.

      States in the Southwest geopolitical zone are to conduct a study of Ekiti State's successes in education for peer learning and adoption.
The process is to be conducted by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, the agency spearheading regional integration and cooperation among the states.
This was part of the communiqué issued at the end of the meeting of state governors in the region held in Ikeja, Lagos on Wednesday.
In a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Ekiti State Governor, Mr Idowu Adelusi, the governors held that peer review in critical areas was necessary for the growth and actualisation of the potential of the region and her people.
Recall that Ekiti State came first in 2016 and 2017 National Examinations Council (NECO)-conducted exams, while it recorded 74 percent success in the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) among other educational feats.
Also, the states agreed to jointly bid for the concession of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport and turn it to a world class infrastructure.
As a way of accelerating rice production and improve agriculture in the region, other states agreed to allocate 1000 hectares each to Lagos for rice production.
This is just as the Southwest governors formally admitted Lagos State into the Oodua Investment Limited.More photos below.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
