 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.       Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, on Tuesday took another step towards the actualisation of his administration’s education and human capital development agenda by distributing instructional materials to public schools in the State.
At a colourful event held within the premises of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) on Okesa Street, Ado-Ekiti, the Governor, who was represented by Commissioner for Education, Evangelist Foluso Daramola, described the distribution as a demonstration of government’s commitment to ensuring qualitative education at all levels.
According to him, the distribution of text books, library resource materials and other instructional materials jointly provided by the State Government and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) was meant to strengthen teaching and learning in public schools across the State.
In his own goodwill message, the Chairman of the State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in Ekiti State, Mr. S.O Olugbesan, extolled the Governor for his laudable programmes in all facets in the State, particularly, the education sector. He said 65 million naira was released at the last JAAC meeting for the payment of leave bonus of primary school teachers, totalling 95 million naira released so far.
This distribution is coming barely three months after the Governor flagged off distribution of teaching aids to public schools in Ekiti State. The beneficiaries are pupils in the basic education level – primary and junior secondary schools.
