 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.      The Management team of Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs And Poverty Alleviation led by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs.Yewande Falugba has paid a courtesy visit to the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House, Alausa Ikeja.
In her remarks during the visit, the Permanent Secretary expressed the team’s delight in meeting with the First Lady of Lagos to discuss issues relating to the female gender with particular reference to empowerment and poverty eradication.
Falugba noted that the various Skill Acquisition programmes and the Agricultural empowerment programme embarked by the State Government through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation have, over the years improved the lot of women in the Rural, Urban and Peri-Urban Areas of the State.
On domestic violence, she said that the “He for She” programme of the Ministry is designed to involve men in the campaign against domestic violence, adding that there is a need for every Lagosian to support the state government in its campaign on violence against women.
Responding, Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu appreciated the team for the visit and commended the Ministry for all its laudable programmes, especially those aimed at women, children and victims of domestic violence.
She pledged her continued support for widows and victims of domestic violence in the State, stressing that women are the pillar of every home and should be accorded more respect in the society.The First Lady, however, emphasised the need for women to learn and re-learn various skills that will not only empower them but make them financially independent as well.
