 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police.       It would be recalled that on the 23/9/2019 at about 1:40pm,there was a report at Obosi Division by one Onyekachi Idika 'f' of ire village, Obosi in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State that one pastor Chukwudi Chukwumezie 'm' aged 34 years incharge of Mountain Zion deliverance ministry, ugamuma village, Obosi allegedly lured and had unlawful carnal knowledge with her Fifteen years old daughter at a hotel along Eze iweka road Obosi under false pretence of making a deliverance prayers for her.
2. Following the report, Police detectives took the victim to the hospital for medical Examination where penetration and laceration of her hymen was confirmed by the medical doctor.
3. Suspect was arrested and case transferred to the State criminal investigation department for discreet investigation as directed by the Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang,fdc.
4. Consequently, victim also took Police detectives to the hotel where the alleged offence took place after the pastor gave her the sum of #200 to meet him at the ATM junction before proceeding to the hotel.
5. Case under investigation after which suspect would be charged to court for prosecution, please.
