Hello South Wales! Today The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are celebrating businesses and local communities in The Mumbles and Port Talbot.
The Duke and Duchess visited one of Wales’ busiest Lifeboat Stations, The Mumbles RNLI. Lifeboat crews at The Mumbles have been saving lives for over 180 years and have been presented with 33 awards for gallantry.
The Royal Family have long supported RNLI. The Queen has been Patron since 1952, the year of her Accession and The Duke of Kent has held the position of President since 1969.
The Duke and Duchess met volunteers, many of whom are available 24/7 to help saves lives at sea.
It was time for a tasty treat 🍦 at Joes Ice cream Parlour. The Duke and Duchess made a visit to the family run business, which has been serving gelato to local resident’s since Joe Cascarini arrived from Italy in the early 1900s.
The Duchess spoke to local families about The Royal Foundation’s
#5BigQuestions survey which asks UK parents, carers and early years professionals for their views on raising the next generation of children under 5.Their Royal Highnesses then visited the TATA Steel factory in Port Talbot, a vital employer for the community. The factory creates a range of steel products that can be used in different industries, including construction, domestic appliances and heavy vehicles.
The Duke and Duchess’s final stop in South Wales was at BulldogsBoxing Gym. Bulldogs uses the power of boxing to involve, educate and inspire young people and their families. More photos below.
