 NAFDAC Reopens Onitsha Drug Market After Month-Long Closure The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has reopened the Onitsha Head Bridge drug market, popularly known as 'Ogbo Ogwu', after a month-long closure for sanitization and regulatory enforcement. The market was shut down as part of NAFDAC's nationwide clampdown on fake and substandard medicines. To prevent a recurrence of the issues that led to the closure, NAFDAC has implemented strict administrative conditions for reopening. Shop owners are required to complete documentation and clearance procedures before their shops can be unsealed. A dedicated NAFDAC desk has been established to facilitate the process efficiently, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.² According to NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, only shops that meet the conditions will be allowed to resume operations. A WOMAN AND HER HUSBAND HAVE BEEN ACCUSED OF ABUSING THEIR MAID IN IFITE AWKA,ANAMBRA STATE.{PHOTOS}.

Photos of the maid, identified as Ukamaka, show her with scars all over her body from old and new wounds allegedly inflicted on her by her pregnant madam and the woman's husband.
A neighbour, Prince Izu Agbo, who made the matter public, said he heard a child screaming as she was allegedly abused and called a witch for up to an hour.
He said he looked into the next compound and saw the child being beaten, kicked, and pushed, such that she almost fell into the well in the compound.
When the beating wouldn't stop, he went downstairs to intervene.
When he asked the reason for the beating, the caregiver reportedly said it's because the girl picked food from the dustbin.
Prince Izu Agbo said he then inquired from the maid, who looks no older that 10 years old, and she said her madam starves her while feeding her children in her presence, yet expects her to do most of the chores in the house. Due to hunger, she resorted to picking food from the trash.
He added that when he saw the girl, her face and clothes were covered in blood.
Other parts of the girl's body was also scarred, injuries Agbo said were inflicted on her by the madam and her husband.

He claimed that they took in the girl last year with the promise of sending her to school, but they haven't fulfilled that promise.
He said the case was reported to the police and it's now being handled by the B Division of the Anambra State Police Command.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
