GOV. H. UZODIMMA: I SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR ALL THE INCONVENIENCES THESE SECURITY CHALLENGES HAVE CAUSED OUR PEACE-LOVING PEOPLE.{PHOTOS}.#PRESS RELEASE.

I seized the opportunity of my address to congregants at the end of today's church service to allay the fears of Ndị Imo on today's early morning shootings and to further reassure that our government is doing everything humanly possible to ensure that peace returns to Imo State faster than expected.
Certainly, we will not fold our hands and allow the freedom and welfare of our people trampled upon. As long as we are concerned, we will do everything humanly possible to step up all actions to ensure there is peace, tranquility and a secured economy, by the grace of God.
The shootings were as a result of an attempt by bandits to attack the Police Headquarters, Owerri, inorder to release some criminals under the custody of the police, particularly, the ones who have made confessional statements.
However, the police, working in synergy with the Nigerian army and other security operatives were able to not only repel them, but apprehended all of them and recovered 7 Ak47 riffles, 3 pump action guns, and one bus load of explosives that was supposed to be used to burn the facilities.
Indeed, I know it has not been easy. There is no how the security agencies could have been able to control the level of violence we have seen over this period without few cases of accidental deaths. Unfortunately, that is the price the state is paying for the callous nature of some people and the hostility we don't deserve which is being visited on our people.
On behalf of the government of Imo State, I sincerely apologize for all the inconveniences these security challenges have caused our peace-loving people.
Therefore, I enjoin Imo people to join hands in prayers to God and thanksgiving for taking control of the security situation in the State.
I reiterate my earlier call for the people to go about their normal businesses without fear of molestation as God Almighty will go ahead and complete the good work he has started in Imo State.
-Hope Uzodimma
