LAND USE CHARGE: LASG ANNOUNCES 15% DISCOUNT FOR EARLY PAYMENT OF BILLS.{PHOTO}..#PRESS RELEASE.

Lagos State Ministry of Finance has announced a 15% discount on all Land Use Charge (LUC) bills paid within 30 days after receipt of the Bill.

According to a statement signed by the State Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Rabiu Olowo, the discount for early payment of the LUC bill within the stipulated period in the Demand Notice is not inclusive of payment of accumulated fines arising from late payment by property owners.

Olowo disclosed that the idea of a 15 % discount was designed to encourage early payment of the LUC by property owners in the State as stipulated in the law.

While noting that the payment of LUC bills made after 30 days and 45 days of receipt of bill attract no discount, the Commissioner averred that payment between 45 and 75 days after receipt of the bill will attract 10% surcharge in the fees payable.

He said all payments made between 75 and 105 days after receipt of the LUC Bill will attract a 20% increase in the charge payable, adding that payments made between 105 days and 135 days after receipt of the LUC bill will attract a 50% increase in the charge payable and cost of enforcement.

Dr. Olowo, however, warned that LUC payments not made after 135 calendar days, implies that such property will be liable to receivership by the State or its appointed Agent until all outstanding taxes, penalties and administrative charges are paid.

He, therefore, advised residents to explore the WhatsApp platform of Lagos On-Line Assistant (LOLA), on 0815 433 3883 to make payment for their Land Use Charges in a more convenient manner.

The Fiance Commissioner explained that the LOLA platform came into being in line with the present administration's T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda of Making Lagos State a 21st Century Economy, and its initiative on "ease of doing business",  by simplifying the methods of payment of LUC.

Olowo pleaded with property owners in the State to cultivate the habit of paying their LUC as and when due, so that government can have adequate resources to implement more impactful projects for the benefits of the citizenry.
