 AG Moves to Decongest  Anambra Correctional Centres as Controller of Corrections Pays Visit. By Chinelo Okeke The Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Tobechukwu Nweke SAN, has reiterated his commitment to decongest correctional centres across the state through speedy dispensation of justice. Nweke made this known when the Anambra State Controller of Corrections, Ezinne Emele Onuoha, paid him a courtesy visit in his chambers at the Ministry of Justice, Awka. Speaking during the meeting, the Attorney General said many inmates remained in correctional facilities without trial, while some families were unaware of the whereabouts of their relatives in custody. He directed that a comprehensive inventory of inmates in all correctional centres in the state be compiled, especially awaiting-trial inmates, those granted bail but yet to perfect their bail conditions, those denied bail and remanded, as well as convicted persons serving various jail terms. JOINT TAX BOARD REVIEWS NUMBER PLATES, DRIVERS LICENCE RATES - MVAA.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE..


The General Manager, Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA), Mrs. Lape Kilanko, has announced the revised rates for the procurement of vehicle number plates and drivers' licences as approved by the Joint Tax Board (JTB).


Mrs. Kilanko said the approval was conveyed in a letter issued by the Joint Tax Board, dated 30th July 2021, and addressed to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.


According to her, the letter implored all State Boards of Internal Revenue to ensure strict adherence to the approved rates for uniformity in the administration of road taxes in Nigeria.


While noting that the Board also approved 1st August 2021, as the commencement date for implementation of the revised rates, Kilanko informed that the new rates for Standard Private Number Plates and Standard Commercial Number Plates amongst others is now N18,750 while Drivers Licence for three years and five years will cost N10,350 and N15,450 respectively.
