LASG TO COMMENCE DEMOLITION OF STRUCTURES FOR IKORODU JUNCTION IMPROVEMENT.{PHOTO}.#PRESS RELEASE

The Lagos State Government is set to commence demolition of structures along the Right of Way of Ikorodu roundabout on Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th September, 2021, in preparation for the junction improvement traffic diversion plan slated for midnight of Friday, 17th September, 2021.

A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, explained that the demolition will take place in phases, noting that the first phase will cover CAC Road junction to Ayangburen Road in the morning, while the second phase will cover AP Filling Station inwards Sabo in the afternoon on Monday.

Oladeinde stated that on the second day, the demolition exercise will be carried out at the Sabo Police Station, Central Mosque, Conoil and Ayangburen Road from morning till afternoon.

He, however, maintained that although the demolition will not impede traffic flow, alternative routes have been made available to reduce the pressure that may arise during the demolition exercise, just as motorists are being sensitised ahead of full commencement of the project which will last for eight months.

Accordingly, he advised motorists heading inwards Ayangburen from CAC to utilise Ayederi Owuyo Street to make an exit at Etunrenren to reach their destinations, while motorists inbound Ketu/Lagos axis from AP Filling Station are advised to use Sulaimon Shoderu Street and make an exit at Awoshode Street.

“Traffic inbound Central Mosque and Ayangburen from Ikorodu Police Station can use Adeniran Ogunsanya Road and exit Sabo Sagamu Road, while Lagos bound motorists can make a detour at Sulaiman Shoderu Road to access their destinations”, he said.

Oladeinde reiterated that the main carriageway of the affected axis would not be closed to traffic but alternative routes have been suggested to give motorists options for smooth operation around the corridor.

Maintaining that the exercise has been organised in phases to ensure safety of the motoring public and contractors on-site, the Commissioner gave an assurance that road signs, barriers and caution guards will be mounted along the affected routes to guide traffic flow inbound and outbound Ikorodu roundabout.

He, therefore, urged the public to cooperate with the State Government to ensure successful commencement and execution of the project.
