 Senator Sunday Karimi has raised concerns over the growing incidence of kidnapping and banditry in Kogi State, describing abductions as a daily occurrence in the state. Karimi made the remarks on Wednesday during plenary while contributing to a motion of urgent public importance sponsored by Senator Abdulfatai Buhari on the recent abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Ogbomoso. The lawmaker said kidnapping and banditry have become major security challenges threatening the stability of the country, stressing that responsibility for addressing the menace should not rest solely on the Federal Government. According to him, bandits invaded Ayedun Bunu, a community in Kogi West Senatorial District, in the early hours of Monday and abducted 28 residents. The general public, particularly residents of Enugu State, are hereby informed that a Good Samaritan brought to Central Police Station (CPS) Enugu, two (2) female children of about 6 and 3 years respectively, who were found wandering and crying along Okpara Avenue, Enugu.

2. The children, who are suspected to be siblings, gave their names as Amanda and Chioma (surnames unknown) respectively; while Amanda, the older of them, mentioned the name of their mother as Ifunnaya, who sells food.

3. Meanwhile, all efforts so far made to locate the parents or relatives of the children for identification and claim, have proved abortive. Hence, anyone who can identify or assist the Police to locate and reunite the children with their family is hereby enjoined to visit Central Police Station (CPS) Enugu or call 08068820580.
