ANGLICAN CHURCHES IN ANAMBRA JOIN THEIR COUNTERPARTS WORLD OVER TO CELEBRATE MOTHERS DAY. (PHOTOS).

Special services were held today in all the Anglican Churches across the world to celebrate Mothers' Sunday.

The Special Sunday celebrated in the communion every fourth Sunday in Lent is to honour mothers for their roles in families and the society.

The services saw mothers in joyful mood as they appeared in different uniforms according to their groups in the church.

The women conducted the services, read first and second lessons, and also acted as pastors' and people's wardens, sideswomen and other roles played in the church.

The women also sang and danced to celebrate the day.

In a sermon during the service, the Archdeacon, Adazi-Ani Archdeaconry and Vicar, Saint Jude's Church, Adazi-Ani, Venerable Chris Nkem-Okafor said mothers are God's special gifts to mankind as their roles are enormous, teaching molding and educating their children.

Venerable Nkem-Okafor encouraged mothers not to lose sight of their responsibility in their families as wise women but to continue to build their homes while lamenting that many families have lost their values because Mothers in such families are not playing their roles as expected.

At the Church of the Pentecost Parish, Ukpo, the Vicar, Reverend Canon Uchenna Umeifekwem whose message centered on the theme of the 2022 mothering Sunday, "Be strong in the lord and in the power of his might", asked the women to live up to the responsibilities of being spiritual mothers as there are many challenges confronting the society which the women need to stand up to overcome.

Also at Saint Lawrence The New Jerusalem, Nibo, Reverend Sunny David lamented the high rate of divorce, separation and single parenting in the society, urging mothers to hold on to the values of a christian women.

In their seperate speeches, the Vice President, Mothers' Union, Adazi-Ani Archdeaconry, Mrs Chioma Nkem-Okafor, Mrs Chinyere Umeifekwem and Chioma David lamented that some mothers have allowed fashion and quest for earthly things to eat deep into their lives, thereby making them to ignore their primary roles of child upbringing and remaining true companions to their husbands.

Special prayers, thanksgiving, social activities and other side attractions added glamour to the services.
