 A driver lost his life, while another sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision between two articulated trucks on the R40 road in Shatale near Bushbuckridge early this morning (Friday, April 4). According to Moeti Mmusi, spokesperson for the Department of Safety, Security, and Liaison, the accident occurred just after 04:00 when the two trucks, traveling in opposite directions, collided. He further stated that bad weather and reckless driving cannot be ruled out as possible causes of the crash.

FOC WESTERN NAVAL COMMAND VISITS NIGERIAN ARMY ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL ENGINEERS CORPS HEADQUARTERS, SOLICITS FOR CONTINOUS COOPERATION FOR IMPROVED MOBILITY



The Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command Rear Admiral Yakubu Wambai has paid a courtesy visit to the Corps Commander Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (NAEME) Major General Dickson Ehiorobo to solicit for continuos cooperation for improved mobility through repair and maintenance of vehicles and other equipment deployed in Operation AWATSE.

THE FOC while stating the purpose of the visit reiterated on the need for jointness for the successful conduct of all operations in the Armed Forces of Nigeria . He also commended the Corps for great innovations that has raised the bar in Equipment Support to Operation HADIN KAI as observed during his visit to the North East Theatre of Operation using the slogan 'Onward Together' as he solicited for continuos cooperation from the Corps 

In his response the Corps Commander NAEME thanked the FOC for the visit. He observed that the FOC's visit would go down as the first of its kind by a FOC to HQ NAEME. He also informed the FOC that the NAEME Corps embarked on innovations to boost equipment availability in the NA in addition to equipment repair and maintenance.

Major General Ehiorobo also disclosed that the Army Headquarters recently approved the procurement of spare parts for it's vehicles in the operation. He said though the NAEME Corps is constrained in terms of skilled manpower, however the Corps usually concentrate critical skills to carry out necessary tasks at any location where necessary. He therefore informed the FOC of the tremendous support the Corps recieved from the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya towards improved capacity development. He assured the FOC of maximum support and cooperation for improved mobility through repairs and maintenance of vehicles and other equipment deployed in Operation AWATSE.

Highlights of the visit were the exchange of mementoes and signing of the Visitor's Book by the FOC.
