 Legendary actor Manoj Kumar dies at 87: ‘Roti Kapada Aur Makaan’ director breathes his last in Mumbai Manoj Kumar, the Bollywood actor and filmmaker, renowned for his patriotic films, passed away at the age of 87 at Mumbai's Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. The cause of his death was identified as cardiogenic shock due to acute myocardial infarction, according to medical reports. The medical reports confirmed that apart from a severe heart attack that took away his life, Manoj had been battling decompensated liver cirrhosis for the past few months, ANI reported. Following deteriorating health condition, he was admitted to the hospital on February 21, 2025. Popularly known as ‘Bharat Kumar,’ Manoj Kumar was an exceptional director and actor who was honoured with National Film Award. 2023: PDP DELEGATES CONFIRM GOV. ORTOM AS SENATORIAL CANDIDATE OF BENUE NORTH WEST DISTRICT




Delegates from Benue South West Senatorial District, Monday endorsed Governor Samuel Ortom as candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in next year’s general election. 

It would be recalled that the Governor was in March this year endorsed as the sole PDP senatorial candidate by stakeholders from the seven Local Government Areas, LGAs, that make up the Senatorial District. 

Speaking shortly after he was declared winner by the Returning Officer of the election, Governor Ortom expressed appreciation to the people of the zone for always standing with him. 

He said he was pleased to be given another opportunity to serve the state in the Senate at the expiration of his tenure. 

According to the Governor, “the people of State, especially the people of Benue North West have demonstrated an uncommon support for me; I have nothing to pay back than to remain their loyal servant, to give all to their service.” 

The Governor also pledged to continue doing his best in his service to the people of the State, saying “the interest of the people will always be my priority.” 

He commended the successes recorded in the conduct of the party’s primaries to the State and Natioanl Assembly stressing that it was the result of the series of meetings and consultations that were held to guarantee the success of the primaries. 

While commending the electoral panels for carrying out a diligent exercise, he noted that no aspirant who lost out protested because the exercise was transparent, free and fair.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
