 A priest in Anambra State wedded a couple yesterday, despite disputes with the bride’s father In a video circulating online, the Reverend Father narrated that The father of the bride who is from Nteje had insisted that the wedding should not take place unless his daughter swøre never to associate with his mother whom he has a quarrel with. The conflict arose from past marriage issues between the father and her mother. Before the wedding, the father repeatedly met with the priest, warning that he had already taken the bride's mother to a deity and that the girl must follow him to the shrine to appease that deity before the marriage can go on. For peace to prevail, the priest advised the couple to comply with all the father’s requests so the wedding could proceed, the priest even donated some of the items that the brides father told her to bring to use in appeasing the deity. BENUE POLICE PROSECUTE 20 SUSPECTED CULTISTS




Benue State Police Command, on Thursday, said it has charged 20 suspected cultists to court.

In a statement issued and made available to newsmen in Makurdi, the Command Public Relations Officer, SP, Catherine Anene said that the suspects were apprehended at North Bank and Wurukum in Makurdi, the state capital.

The PPRO said the arrest of the suspects was made possible following the deployment of officers to the areas about three weeks ago.

Part of the statement read, “In the last three weeks, officers were deployed to Northbank and Wurukum areas precisely.

“The efforts of these officers in collaboration with other security agencies as well as members of the community restored peace in places that were earlier affected.

“Twenty suspects were arrested and charged to court as reflected below.

“Suspects arrested during the operation include; Obieze Chibuzor, Daniel Sabo, Friday Chimana of North Bank, they were arrested in possession of fourteen (14) packs of dry leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp. Akegh Beeior Oscar, Terwase Saaior and Peter Adura were arrested with two locally made pistols and three (3) cartridges.

“Fourteen (14) others were also arrested in connection with cultism. These suspects have been charged to court in accordance with the laws.”

The Command spokesperson called on parents, teachers, traditional rulers and religious leaders to join security men to fight the menace of cultism in the state.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
