 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. Anambra State Governor; Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly; Rt Hon Uche Okafor Episani and principal members of the house, members of Anambra State Executive Council and relatives, earlier today were at St Patrick Catholic Church Isuofia.

The funeral mass was celebrated by Cardinal Ebere Okpalaeke who lamented the wickedness that has  overtaken the world that some people don't have any value anymore for human lives.

The eldest of the Okoye family; Mr Emmanuel Okoye thanked those that squeezed time out of their busy schedules to honour Late Hon Okechukwu Okoye and commiserate with the family at this critical time.

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo assured the family that all the culprits to this horrible act must be brought to book.

He further appealed to Anambra State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt Dr Hon Uche Okafor Episani to ensure they remember to support the immediate family of their late honourable colleague.

He added that the state government under his leadership will continue their onslaught against criminal elements, kidnapping syndicate who now trades on human blood to make money. He equally assured of his support to the family.

May the soul of Late Hon Okechukwu Okoye rest in the bosom of the Lord.
