 Somali PM calls on Somaliland to cut Israel ties, urges reconciliation Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre has called on Somaliland’s leadership to cut ties with Israel and to resolve disputes with the federal government through dialogue. Barre said relations among Somalis should be addressed through talks rather than confrontation, in remarks during a ceremony to mark the first anniversary of the establishment of North East State. In December 2025, Israel announced mutual recognition with Somaliland, a move strongly rejected by the Somali government as a breach of its sovereignty and territorial integrity and criticised by many countries across the world. “Regarding our brothers in Somaliland, I have nothing new to say. 2022 ➡️ 1983

The King, unveiling his first plaque as Monarch, has officially reopened the Burrell Collection in Glasgow following its six-year long refurbishment. Displayed in a purpose-built, A-Listed museum in the city’s Pollok Country Park, The Burrell Collection was officially opened to the public by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 21 October 1983.

Having reopened to the public in March 2022, the project has delivered new and improved displays and facilities which are an exemplar of sustainable low carbon design. Many of the Collection’s important and unique objects, which have not been seen for decades, or have never been on permanent display, are now on show thanks to a 35% increase in the museum’s gallery space.
 
An inclusive approach to interpretation, including dynamic digital, tactile and hands on displays give more visitors a better understanding of the outstanding works of artistic, historical and cultural significance within the collection and the people who made, used or owned them.
