  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has dismissed a viral claim circulating on social media about the introduction of new ₦5,000 and ₦10,000 banknotes, labeling it as fake news. The claim, which included fabricated images of the supposed new denominations featuring Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, falsely stated that the new notes would enter circulation from May 1, 2025. In a statement on its verified Facebook account, the CBN clarified that the content is not from the bank and directed the public to its official website, (www.cbn.gov.ng), for authentic information. The bank warned against spreading misinformation regarding monetary policies and urged Nigerians to rely only on official statements from its verified channels. The CBN reaffirmed that any major policy decision, including the introduction of new banknotes, would be announced through its official platforms. WOMAN STABS HER BOYFRIEND TO DEATH IN NASARAWA 



The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested one Alice Mulak of Ungwan Gwari, Karu Local Government Area of the state for stabbing her boyfriend to death with a knife following a misunderstanding.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday, October 14, 2022, said the suspect was arrested by police operatives attached to Mararaba 'A' Division led by CSP Musa Babayola.

According to the PPRO, preliminary investigation revealed that the incident happened behind City Rock Hotel, Mararaba at about 0330hrs when the deceased and his girlfriend engaged themselves in fisticuffs as a result of a misunderstanding.

"Hence, the suspect was arrested and the knife used in perpetrating the offence was consequently recovered based on the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adesina Soyemi," the statement read.

"The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Lafia for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.".

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
