 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room. CP bans sale, use of fireworks, knockout fire-crackers, others in Anambra State

As part of a proactive measure by the Anambra State Police Command to sustain public safety and peace in the state, the Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng has banned the sale and use of fireworks, knockouts, and firecrackers in the state. 

This plan shall enhance adequately already policing strategy put in place that is potently and dynamic to respond to any emergency and security concerns peculiar to Christmas and end-of-the-year festivities. 

The CP noted that the use of knockouts, and others, aside from constituting nuisance and disturbance of public peace, is also capable of causing unnecessary fear, apprehension and other dangers associated with its usage, especially during this harmattan period.

 This is in addition to the possibility of providing an escape space for criminals after the commission of a crime. 

Echeng equally called on parents and guardians to impress on their children and wards to desist from the sales and use of fireworks, firecrackers, and knockouts, others as the ban is in the best interest of all. 

He warned persons trading in these banned items to seek alternative ventures.

He, however, assured that the Command would leave no stone unturned to ensure that there would not be any form of security breach, especially during this yuletide season.

The CP also urged Ndi Anambra to be vigilant and security conscious and report all suspicious movements or in case of any emergency to call 112 or 07039194332. (MOI)
