 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country. BUILDING CONTROL AGENCY DEMOLISHES CRITICALLY DISTRESSED STRUCTURE IN AMUWO-ODOFIN


...Urges Residents To Give Reports Of Defective Buildings 

In a bid to avoid building collapse and its attendant effects, the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) today demolished a critically distressed four-floor structure located at Festac Extension Estate, off Eko Akete Road, Mile2, Amuwo-Odofin.

Speaking on the demolition exercise, the General Manager of LASBCA, Arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, stated that before the demolition of the building the Agency had followed due processes by first evacuating all its occupants to prevent loss of lives and serving all necessary notices including a demolition notice on the owner.


Whilst thanking members of Amuwo-Odofin Community Development Association (CDA) and concerned citizens of the area for the early reporting of the distressed building, Oki charged Lagosians to emulate the examplary action of members of the community by reporting cases of distressed and defective structures to LASBCA on email: lasbca@lagosstate.gov.ng, lasbcalag@gmail.com or call 0816214646.


He also urged building owners/developers to do periodic checks and maintenance of their buildings as this will help buildings stand the test of time and curb building collapse in the state.

 A member of the community, Miss Anita Ayama expressed the people’s gratitude to LASBCA and the Lagos State Government for the prompt response and action as the building before its demolition had been a source of concern for the residents because of the danger it posed.
