 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. IGP JOINS PRESIDENT,  SERVICE CHIEFS TO LAY WREATHS AT 2023 ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY CELEBRATION

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc(+), NPM, NEAPS, fdc, CFR, has today January 15, 2023, joined the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, CFR, and other Service Chiefs to lay wreaths to mark the occasion of the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day. 


The occasion marked nationally at the National Arcade, Abuja and replicated at various locations in each state of the federation in remembrance of the sacrifices of officers and men of the Armed Forces to ensure the unity, peace and progress of the country. 


Other dignitaries present at the ceremony included the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan, the Speaker House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, members of the Federal Executive Council,  the Diplomatic Corps, and members of the Force Management Team. 


The Inspector-General of Police commiserates with families and loved ones of officers and men  of the armed forces, the Police Force and other paramilitary agencies, who have paid the supreme price in the course of their service to the nation. He similarly urges every citizen to put hands together to ensure that their sacrifices are not in vain, while we embark on drives that will continually promote peace and unity, peaceful coexistence and general safety of all and sundry in Nigeria.
