  The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Rivers State Police Command, demanding a public apology for the assault on five journalists during a peaceful protest in Port Harcourt. Failure to comply, the union warned, would result in a statewide media blackout. In a statement jointly signed by Council Chairman Comrade Paul Bazia and Secretary Dr. Ijeoma Tubosia, the NUJ condemned the police actions as “unprovoked, barbaric, and inhuman,” calling for the immediate identification and prosecution of the officers involved. “The NUJ, as a watchdog of society, will not sit idly by while media practitioners are subjected to barbarism and brutality.         RECOVERY OF FOUR (4) AK-47 RIFLES



On 25th April 2023, a team of Safer Highway Patrol, Department of Operations, Kano State Command while on intelligence–led stop and search operation at Kwanar Garko, Garko LGA, Kano State along Kano – Bauchi road saw a Lite – Hiace Bus Motor Vehicle trying to change direction with an occupant coming down holding a suspicious item.


2. On swift response by the team, the occupant dropped the item, zoomed off and escaped the scene. On the spot search, a sack containing four (4) AK-47 Rifles was discovered. An effort is intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects.


3. The Acting Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, DCP Mu’azu U. Mohammed appreciates the good people of the State for their support, encouragement and cooperation.  Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
