 Texas man arrested with 75 pounds of marijuana in luggage while flying to London, police say A Texas man was arrested at Miami International Airport after authorities found 75 pounds of marijuana in his luggage before he could board a flight to London. Harrison O’Neill Tiernan, 23, from Austin, was charged with cannabis trafficking. He was traveling to Heathrow Airport and had checked two suitcases for his British Airways flight. Inspectors discovered 65 vacuum-sealed packages containing a green, leafy substance later confirmed to be marijuana. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped Tiernan while he attempted to board the flight, and he acknowledged that the bags were his. Authorities noted the inspections were part of broader efforts at the airport due to high outbound narcotics activity. In total, Tiernan was carrying 34.01 kilograms, or 74.98 pounds, of marijuana. Millions Lost As Fire Guts Alaba International Market

Traders are currently counting their losses as goods worth millions of naira were Thursday, burnt as the electronics section of the Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos State, was gutted by fire.


Information revealed that some of the traders are making personal efforts to put out the raging inferno.


It is still unclear what led to the fire outbreak, but there are reports that the fire started following a gas cylinder explosion in one of the shops in the market.


Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service said that upon getting report of the fire emergency, deployed Fire Crew from Ojo, Sari-Iganmu and Ajegunle, but angry mobs are preventing them from doing their job.


“Report reaching Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service indicates shops at the popular Alaba International Market, Ojo, Lagos are on Fire. However, Fire Crew from Ojo, Sari-Iganmu and Ajegunle are being turned back by angry mobs from performing their statutory duty but fire fighting trucks are presently on standby.


“The agency is consequently collaborating wth Security Agents to address it,” a statement by the Director of the agency, Margaret Adeseye said.
