Scores Killed, Dozens Injured In India Train Crash
NEW DELHI (Worthy News-Telegram)-- At least 120 people were killed and more than 800 injured when two trains collided in Indiaās eastern state of Odisha, local media and officials said. Rescue and search operations were still underway late Friday local time, footage monitored by Worthy News showed.
One of the trains involved in the collision was reportedly the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express. The crash comes at a time of pressure on the government to improve safety. Several hundred accidents occur every year on Indiaās railways, which with 40,000 miles (64,000km) of track, is the worldās largest network under one management. Two trains collided near the megacity of Delhi in August 1995, killing 358 people in the worst train accident in Indiaās history.
