 Kwara Govt donates 150 off-road motorcycles to Nigerian Army •LGAs acquire 320 motorcycles to boost vigilantes' security operations  In a bid to further strengthen security operations and maintain peace across Kwara State, His Excellency Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led Kwara State Government has donated 150 off-road motorcycles to the Nigerian Army. The motorcycles are expected to enhance troops' mobility and effectiveness, particularly in rugged terrains such as forests, where non-state actors may be hiding with intent to destabilise the peaceful atmosphere of the state. Governor Alia vows to support sports development

Gov. Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has pledged his administration’s support for sports development in the state.


The governor, represented by his Deputy, Mr Samuel Ode, said this on Friday in Makurdi, at the grand finale of the 2023 edition of the Benue State Football League, sponsored by Ratels Sports Development Foundation, Abuja, (RSDF).


“There is no doubt that there is nothing that unites Nigeria more than sports, especially football,” pledging that as a government will do everything possible to promote sports in the State,” Rev. Fr. Alia said.


He commended the sponsor of the tournament, Mr. Paul Edeh, proprietor of Naija Ratels Football Club, Abuja, for being a worthy Benue sports ambassador.


Earlier, Edeh told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that his foundation, RSDF, has been sponsoring the league as a way of giving back to the society.


Edeh, who is running for the Chairmanship of the Benue State Football Association (FA) in Saturday’s election, stressed the need for more grassroots football development.


“For me, this is a thing of joy because it is grassroots football and I am amazed at the level of skills displayed by the players.NYSC Portal


“Ratel Foundation is also ready to offer Benue Referees the scholarship to go for NIS training,” he said.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
