Invite Nnamdi Kanu for discussion, Ohanaeze tells President Tinubu

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, has expressed outrage at the recent attack on Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), by ex-militant leader Mujahid Dokubo-Asari. They have called on President Bola Tinubu to ignore Dokubo's statements and instead invite Kanu for a roundtable discussion.

Dokubo-Asari, after a meeting with President Tinubu, labeled Kanu a criminal and urged Tinubu not to release him. This statement has provoked anger among Ndigbo, with many accusing Dokubo of overstepping his boundaries.

In response, the President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, accused Dokubo-Asari of being sponsored by those seeking to destabilize President Tinubu's government. Nnabuike criticized Dokubo's divisive rhetoric at a time when many citizens were striving to unite the country.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide appealed to President Tinubu to dismiss Dokubo's remarks and disregard individuals who prioritize their personal interests over the nation's future. They urged the government to engage with Kanu and other agitators, emphasizing their fight for justice and an end to marginalization. The group reminded President Tinubu of his past advocacy for democracy and justice, urging him to give Kanu a fair hearing.

However, Ohanaeze cautioned Dokubo against exploiting Kanu's situation for personal gain and warned him to cease using the Igbo people to further his own interests. They emphasized that Dokubo's issues with Kanu were personal and should not be used to incite division among the Igbo community.
