Criminals target, kidnap female journalist in Port Harcourt

The Director of News at the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation (RSBC) in Port Harcourt, Mrs. Priestba Anthony Nwokocha, has been abducted.

The news of her kidnapping was revealed by Pastor Ebi Ogoloma, the Director of Administration at the station. Mrs. Nwokocha was forcefully taken between 7pm and 8pm on Friday, July 21, while on her way home from work along Slaughter/YKC road in Port Harcourt.

According to sources close to her family, Mrs. Nwokocha's car broke down along the aforementioned road. She immediately contacted her husband, who arrived at the scene with a mechanic to fix the vehicle. Unfortunately, it was during this time that the kidnappers appeared and took her captive.

In response to the incident, Ike Wigodo, the Secretary of the Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ), has urged journalists in the state to remain calm. The NUJ has already contacted CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka, the Commissioner of Police, who advised the family to file a preliminary report at the nearest Police Station. The authorities are fully aware of the situation and will take appropriate action.

As of now, no contact has been made by the kidnappers, and Mrs. Nwokocha's whereabouts remain unknown. The situation is deeply concerning, and efforts are underway to secure her safe return.
