Blessed Wisdom Model School Apologises to Anambra State Government

The Management of Blessed Wisdom Model School, Onitsha has tendered an apology to the state government and parents of the two years old female child that sustained a cut tongue and broken arm under mysterious circumstances at the school.

The school management also stated its readiness to assist with the welfare of the child till she gets back on her feet.

The apology was tendered by the school proprietress, Mrs Ifeyinwa Nkamigbo during a meeting with the Commissioner of Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, directors of the Ministry of Education, and parents of the injured child at the Conference Hall, Ministry of Education, Jerome Udorji Secretariat Awka.

The Commissioner, while accepting the apology on behalf of the state government, charged the school management to make the safety of every pupil a top priority as the lives of six hundred pupils are in their care during school hours.

She called on the management to ensure that safety measures are in place to avoid a repeat of such incidents.

Every child in the state belongs to the government, hence the Ministry waded into the matter based on this premise, she added.

She further said that the Ministry acted as a result of the petition written to the Ministry by the aggrieved parents of the child.

Commissioner Chuma-Udeh, however, disclosed that she never anticipated the backlash the Ministry received while arbitrating between the two parties.

In his reaction, the grandparents of the child Dr and Mrs. A A Anagu thanked the state government for the prompt intervention in the matter while adding that all they ever wanted was for the school to show some form of empathy for the injured.

He said that since they have done that, they are ready to move on, letting bygones be bygones.

Recall that social media has been agog with news of Blessed Wisdom Model School, Onitsha, and the 2-year-old pupil who was seriously injured while at the school.

The Ministry of Education received a huge backlash from the media when a ban was placed on the school by the Ministry.

The Commissioner of Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh had in a press conference recently explained that the school was placed on a temporary ban to give the school time to comply with the recommendation drawn by the committee set up to investigate the incident.
