  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, Wife, Split After 18 Years Of Marriage 

Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau has announced he is separating from his wife, Sophie, after 18 years of marriage.

On Wednesday, Trudeau made the announcement on his official Instagram account, noting that it was reached after "many meaningful and difficult conversations."

He wrote "Hi everyone, Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate. 

"As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build. For the well-being of our children, we ask that you respect our and their privacy. Thank you."

According to Dailymail, a statement shared by the Prime Minister's office revealed that Trudeau and Sophie have signed a legal separation agreement

Despite their split, it was also revealed that the family will vacation together from next week.

The statement read in part, "They have worked to ensure that all legal and ethical steps with regards to their decision to separate have been taken, and will continue to do so moving forward.

"They remain a close family and Sophie and the Prime Minister are focused on raising their kids in a safe, loving, and collaborative environment. The family will be together on vacation, beginning next week."

Trudeau tied the knot with his wife in 2005. They welcomed their first child, Xavier in 2007, their second child, Ella-Grace in 2009, and their third child, Hadrien Gregoire in 2014.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
