The governor also said the curfew could be extended to other local government areas of the state, identifying motorcyles, otherwise known as Okada, and tricycles (Keke NAPEP) as two major vehicles used by criminals to perpetrate their nefarious activities. Crossdressing not an offence, Delta Police PPRO clears air on 'gay suspects' arrest

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, has stated that cross-dressing is not an offence in Nigeria.

Edafe made this known while reacting to a statement by Twitter influencer Daniel Regha, following the arrest of 100 suspected homosexuals in Warri, Delta state.

The Delta State Police Command had arrested 100 persons at a same-sex wedding ceremony held  in a Warri hotel on Tuesday.

Reacting to the report, Regha called for the arrest of popular crossdressers, Bobrisky and James Brown, adding that the police need to make an example of them.

"Bobrisky, James Brown, Eni & others who champion cross-dressing are still walking free. Until these people are prosecuted, many will continue to emulate.

"Arresting 100 cross-dressers in Delta is one thing, but why ignore their mentors? The police should make an example of 'em,”  Regha tweeted.

Reacting to Regha's tweet, the police PRO, noted that the suspects arrested were nabbed for 'conducting and attending' a same-sex wedding ceremony and not for cross-dressing.

Edafe wrote, "Daniel, get your facts right. They were not arrested for cross-dressing; they were arrested for conducting and attending a gay wedding ceremony.

"Bring a part of the law that stipulates punishment for cross-dressing or categorise it as an offence."
