 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms. Former VP Osinbajo Appointed Chairman CAP-A Board Of Directors

The Climate Action Platform for Africa (CAP-A) has appointed former vice president Professor Yemi Osinbajo as its Chair of the Board of Directors.

This appointment follows the inaugural Africa Climate Summit in Kenya on September 6, which underscored the urgency of accelerated climate action.

CAP–A Founder James Mwangi, in a message, said Prof. Osinbajo’s expertise would advance CAP-A’s objectives.

Prof. Osinbajo, commenting on his new role, stated, “I have witnessed CAP-A’s efforts in reshaping Africa’s narrative from a climate crisis victim to a catalyst for global climate action. I am honoured to serve as Chair of the Board to support CAP-A’s teams and initiatives across the continent, promoting Africa’s sustainable economic development through climate-positive growth.”

Prof. Osinbajo served two terms as Vice President of Nigeria and previously held the positions of Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Lagos State.

As a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, he is among the country’s top legal experts and formerly held the role of Professor and Head of the Department of Public Law at the University of Lagos.
