 LAGFERRY BOAT FIRE The Lagos State Ferry Services (LAGFERRY) earlier today had a fire on one of its boats, Igbega Eko, at the Ipakodo Terminal in Ikorodu. Preliminary reports indicate that the fire started at about 6.45 a.m. There were 19 passengers on board. The inferno started after passengers had boarded the boat to depart the terminal.  All passengers were rescued alive. Nine of them who, unfortunately, sustained burn injuries are receiving medical attention at the Ikorodu General Hospital. They will be treated free of charge. Emergency protocols were promptly activated at the scene. LAGFERRY sincerely appreciates all responders, Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), private boat operators, and other rescuers who worked tirelessly to contain the situation. The Agency also commended the passengers for their cooperation during the evacuation. Osun: Two gunned down as suspected rival cult groups clash in Ilesa

Two suspected cultists have been gunned down in a clash by members of a suspected rival gang in Osun State.
DAILY POST gathered that the incident occurred in Ilesa town on Sunday evening.
According to information, the rival gang members stormed the beer parlour at Onimo junction, where the victims, identified as Machine and SK, were drinking.
The traditional ruler in the area, Onimo of Imo, Oba Olaniyi Agunbiade, said he was watching a football match around 8 p.m. when he heard gunshots.
He said he immediately alerted the Ijamo Police Divisional Officer, who swiftly responded to the distress call.
“The deed has been done before the arrival of his men.
“Corpses of the victims were removed by the police for investigation,” he said.
Yemisi Opalola, spokesman of the state police command, confirmed the incident in a conversation with DAILY POST.
“It was a clash between two suspected rival cult groups.
“It was a case of a suspected cult gang gunning down two members of another suspected rival cult group,” she said.
Opalola said an investigation has opened on it, and the culprits would be brought to book.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
